 Quick delivery and great condition Jul 24, 2010
I am very pleased with the quick delivery for this product, better than advertised and the package and product are in great condition.

 Solid program, but error checking required May 27, 2010
Taxcut 2008 generally works as advertised. It is easy to install, and the interface is logical and intuitive. When I reinstalled the application on a different computer, the technical support staff was extremely helpful in sending me the different state products I needed to install. So the program gets high marks for that.
The navigation could be improved in that it can be hard to go back to specific areas of the interview quickly, but that's a minor quibble.
A greater concern is that after finishing my taxes, I went to an H&R Block location to have a tax professional review the return I generated using the program. He discovered inconsistencies in how the program carried some data forward. In fact, he assumed I was using turbo tax.
I give the product 2 stars, because I felt it didn't catch important errors.
The bottom line is that if you have fairly complex taxes, it is probably worth it to get a second look by a tax professional.
 Not Turbo Tax Oct 28, 2009
Perhaps because I have used TurboTax for years, the interface with TaxCut was not as intuitive for me. The reason I changed from TurboTax was that, after two hours of technical help, I could not get their 2008 version to install. TaxCut had no such problem. It will accept data files from previous versions of TurboTax and Quicken seamlessly. The price on Amazon was awesome. All-in-all a very good product which performed as I had hoped.
Great alternative to Turbo Tax Oct 28, 2009
I have become used to filing an extension to file my taxes. This year, as I prepared to file in late September, I learned about all the new changes to Intuit's Turbo Tax, which I had used for many years. These change, most of you know about, pushed the price to over $80. I decided I'd had enough of Intuit and went looking for the alternative. I had used Tax Cut years ago, but I remember thinking it was inferior to TT. That has changed, I was very happy with the outcome, and ease of use. screen were easy to understand, and navigate. Things were well explained, but not overly so, no paging through multiple screens of information with no entry . This is especially nice when your having to backup a lot to check information, or check changes. If I needed a refresher on various information, it was readily available through highlighted links.
I have found my replacement for TT. Intuit? you blew it!
PS since I purchased so late in the year, I found a new copy of Tax Cut on Amazon for $4.13, Shipped! Sometimes procrastination has it's benefits!
 Product Doesn't Work,but My Computer May Be the Reason Oct 25, 2009
The product doesn't work. It failed to download, but the problem could be my laptop computer which I bought used. However, a computer technician downloaded Excel, Word, and Powerpoint successfully. I couldn't try the product on my desktop which has successfully downloaded tax programs before because I had already downloaded this version of Taxcut onto the desktop.
I rated the product as fair because it didn't work for me, but I don't know if the problem is with the product or with my computer.
