love Canon but not too excited about this one Jul 28, 2010 Honestly I may be unfairly comparing this with my Canon A630 which I just loved and which broke when I dropped it.
Compared to that one (which used 4 AAs, this one which uses 2 AAs), the battery life is way too short. I'm chewing through batteries at a distressing rate.
There is sometimes a really long wait after you take a picture, before you can take your next one.
I sometimes find the viewfinder (hope I am using the right term) hard to use.
That said, perhaps some of this could be solved by changing some settings. I have always loved my Canon purchases thus far (4-in-1 printer and 2 cameras) and picture quality, price and customer service are outstanding.
My favorite camera I've ever owned Jul 06, 2010 This camera is the best one I have ever owned. The pictures are crystal-clear. I took a picture of my son spraying me with the water hose and the camera captured each individual twinkling droplet of water as well as his ornery face behind the water. This camera is light-weight and easy to use. I love the zoom-quality, too. Pictures that I take far away are just as clear as ones up close. The price is great, too.
Absolutely great Jun 30, 2010 I purchased this camera solely for one purpose - to make pictures of my jewelry that I sell. This is the only camera in this price range that has a micro option. Absolutely great close ups. Will recommend to anyone.
Camera review May 29, 2010 Very nice camera! I researched quite a bit in looking for my perfect camera. This is the one.
small and impressive Apr 13, 2010 I've only had this a short time, but I'm not new to digital photography. I bought this after a lot of research. I wanted a smaller camera because I just didn't want to lug my sx10is around all the time. What I wanted was good picture quality. This little camera is a gem. I am absolutely impressed with how good the pictures really are. It's a point and shoot with point and shoot limitations. Sure, it's missing manual controls but, I really don't care. I just wanted simplicity, a smaller & lighter camera that takes decent pictures. I got everything I was looking for. When using flash, it is slow for the next picture but, that's not unusual in cameras like these. I ran into the same situation when I used point and shoot film cameras. So, this was no surprise to me, and it's acceptable for me. The video should not be zoomed as digital zoom just plain stinks. The colors are more saturated in this camera I notice. The contrast is bumped up a notch higher too. In bright sunny days, I like that. I haven't done much in dimmer lighting yet, so I'm curious as to how those colors may act since saturation is up. If I see a problem, I can always switch to the program mode, then switch "my colors" to "Neutral." That should calm over saturation down. I'll have to wait and see. I always set the focus to center. That seems to work the best for me. I do the same with my sx10. I'm not impressed with face detection. What I can't seem to see any differences is in the auto vs. easy mode. I even put my bifocals back on. Does anyone see any difference between the "easy" and "auto" mode? Over all, for the money, I think this takes wonderful snap shots. Clear. Colorful. No purple tint/fringing. It's a nifty lightweight easy to use camera that really does a fine job. I think a lot of people who just want nice pictures will love this camera. When I give this a wirl at night, I'll update this post and give you the good or bad news. Reading the manual to all cameras several times is just so important. I take it with me. I'm not ashamed to read it out in public. I want my pictures to look as good as they can. Understanding how my camera works is just so worth learning. I can take beautiful pictures because there is more to a camera tha the "auto" mode.
